Thoughts

When I was a kid, I loved seeing Stelle. She always brought a great sense of fun and joy to any situation. She would carefully consider whatever childish observations I made and treat them with a level of respect and thoughtfulness that was rare to see in adults. But mostly, she could always make me laugh! Almost all of my childhood memories of Stelle are of us cackling with laughter and just having a great time. I always knew that she loved children but as I grew up I realised that Stelle loved people. She seemed to have endless patience and generosity and a real ability to enjoy people for who they were, without expecting them to be anything else. She really was a wonderful human being! I am currently moving house and in the process of packing I have found so many gifts from Stelle and family. While most of my family stopped sending birthday presents at 18, there was never a Christmas or birthday that went past without a card and a thoughtful present from Stelle, Chris, Maddie and Joe. Among them is a blanket that Stelle sent me 9 years ago when I first started university and was constantly complaining to my mum about how cold I was. This is going to be the fourth time the blanket has moved house and it will be one of the first things I unpack because it reminds me of all the happy memories I have with Stelle and of how lucky I am to have known such a kind, generous and truly wonderful person. Thank you for all those memories, Stelle. Lots of love, Fern
